With all the buzz around artificial intelligence, it’s natural to wonder: Do I still need a website builder like Squarespace? Or even a designer? Can’t AI just do it all?
It’s a fair question — and the answer isn’t as simple as yes or no.
Let’s break it down.
What AI can do (and does quite well)
AI has already changed the way we approach websites. In just a few clicks, it can now:
Generate full page layouts from a simple prompt
Write website copy that sounds pretty convincing
Suggest colour palettes and fonts that “match your vibe”
Optimise content for search engines
Even create logos or imagery using basic ideas
This makes it easier than ever for someone to launch a basic website quickly — which is great, especially for early-stage businesses or passion projects.
But here's what AI doesn't replace
Despite all this speed and ease, AI still struggles with one key thing: intentional, human connection. Here’s where platforms like Squarespace (and working with a real designer or strategist) still matter:

Real support: When something breaks, or you’re unsure what’s working, there’s comfort in knowing there’s someone to turn to. AI doesn’t (yet!) offer empathy or long-term partnership.

Platforms like Squarespace are already weaving AI into their tools — helping users generate content, tweak designs, and streamline processes. But they’re not being replaced by AI. They’re being enhanced.
